The short anime “Hokuto no Ken: Ken’o-gun Zako-tachi no Banka” Season 2 has officially announced its broadcast schedule. The series will begin airing on AT-X and TOKYO MX from July 6, 2026. A new key visual and promotional video have also been released.
Series Concept and Synopsis
The anime is based on the original concept by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara, with manga art by Hiroshi Kurao. The story centers on Nobu, an ordinary young man who joins the army of the Ken-oh, and the “zako,” or low-level henchmen, who struggle to survive in an extremely dangerous workplace. The new PV shows the struggles of these zako characters, along with familiar faces from the Hokuto no Ken universe. The key visual shows Nobu and his teammates with tense, serious expressions.
Season 2 Ending Theme
The ending theme for Season 2 is “Shiroi Cho ga Tondara”, a new song by Itsuka Saisei. The song is especially notable because Tsuyoshi Ujiki, an artist who performed theme songs for the early Hokuto no Ken anime, participates on guitar.
Tsuyoshi Ujiki shared his feelings about returning to the franchise:
Nearly 40 years have passed since we in Kodomo Band sang theme songs for the Hokuto no Ken anime, yet I have continued to be involved with this work at important moments, which is truly amazing. No one could have imagined it back then. As artists, there may come a day when we stop performing, but music can live on forever. Hokuto no Ken has continued to ignite the hearts of readers, viewers, and artists across generations. At a time when many people still saw anime as something for children, this work opened a new horizon for anime with human drama and hard-boiled action. My bond with Hokuto no Ken is precious to me as an artist. The more time passes, the more I feel the greatness of this work and the number of people who continue to love it. “Shiroi Cho ga Tondara” by Itsuka Saisei, on which I played guitar, is a very good song. I hope everyone listens to it as one of the musical voices of Hokuto no Ken.
