Fans of the Gekijouban Mononoke (劇場版モノノ怪) film trilogy now have a striking piece of merchandise to look forward to. Goods maker Movic has announced the 「モノノ怪（劇場版） 行燈」, a steel andon-style lantern that brings the trilogy’s distinctive visual world into your home.
About Gekijouban Mononoke
Mononoke follows a mysterious travelling medicine seller who roams feudal Japan exorcising supernatural creatures — mononoke — born from deep human emotions such as grudges and longing. The series originated from the “Bakeneko” arc in the 2006 anthology anime Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales, then expanded into its own TV series the following year.
Beginning in 2024, the franchise moved to cinemas with a trilogy set within the Ōoku (the inner chambers of Edo Castle). The three films are:
- Gekijouban Mononoke: Karakasa — released July 2024
- Gekijouban Mononoke: Chapter 2 – Hinezumi — released March 2025
- Gekijouban Mononoke: Chapter 3 – Jagami — opening 29 May 2026
The medicine seller is voiced throughout by Kamiya Hiroshi.
A Lantern Inspired by the Three-Pillar Torii
The andon lantern takes its shape from the mihashira torii (三柱鳥居), a three-sided torii gate. Each of its three panels features a paper-cut-style (kirie-fū) design drawn from the fusuma sliding-door artwork of the corresponding film chapter. When lit, the lamp casts a soft, warm glow that evokes the atmosphere and memories of each chapter.
The lantern comes with a switched power cord, making it easy to use as indoor ambient lighting. Dimensions are approximately W 15 cm × H 23 cm × D 13.4 cm, and it is priced at ¥16,500 (tax included).

Pre-orders are open now at Animate stores nationwide, the Animate online shop, and the Movic online store. The pre-order window closes on 14 June 2026.
