A new collaboration between SEIKO and Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師) has been announced: a limited-edition wristwatch themed around Edward Elric, now open for pre-orders on the online store AMNIBUS.
About the Series
Fullmetal Alchemist is a battle-fantasy manga by Hiromu Arakawa, which began serialization in Monthly Shōnen Gangan in 2001. Beloved for its compelling characters, intricately crafted story, and unique alchemical world-building, the series celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2021 with a range of projects including an original-art exhibition, Arakawa’s new manga Yomi no Tsugai, and a smartphone game announcement.
Watch Design
Officially titled the SEIKO Collaboration Watch Edward Elric Model, the timepiece features a black dial adorned with Edward’s iconic red transmutation circle and the Flamel crest as an accent. Every detail has been crafted to reflect Ed’s world:
- Each index is a three-dimensional part inspired by the bolts of Ed’s automail right arm.
- Lumibrite luminous material is applied at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions.
- The sub-dial at 6 o’clock bears the crest of the Amestrian military.
The caseback is engraved with “Don’t forget 3. OCT. 11” — the inscription found on Ed’s State Alchemist silver watch — making this a truly special piece for fans.
Band and Features
The watch uses a stainless steel band for durability and everyday wearability. It is rated at 10 ATM water resistance and includes a stopwatch function, making it equally suited to casual and business settings.
Packaging
The exterior box is wrapped in scarlet paper evoking Ed’s trademark red coat. The top face features the Flamel crest in matte gold foil stamping alongside an English rendering of the series’ famous line: “Stand up and walk. Keep moving forward.” The box is designed to display the watch without removing it, and the interior is engraved with both the EDWARD ELRIC and SEIKO logos.
