Bandai Namco Filmworks has unveiled the official trailer and streaming premiere date for The Ghost in the Shell (Kōkaku Kidōtai THE GHOST IN THE SHELL), a new television anime series produced by Science SARU. The series will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Japan on July 7 at 11:30 p.m. JST (10:30 a.m. EDT), immediately following its broadcast premiere.
The anime will also stream exclusively and simultaneously on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and regions worldwide, with the exception of mainland China, Russia, and Vietnam.
Staff
Mokochan — a storyboarder and key animator known for DAN DA DAN, The Heike Story, and Tatami Time Machine Blues — makes his directorial debut with this series at Science SARU. Toh Enjoe, novelist of The Empire of Corpses and scriptwriter on Space Dandy and Godzilla Singular Point, is writing and overseeing all series scripts.
Shūhei Handa, whose credits include Little Witch Academia (TV series), Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, and Spriggan (ONA), serves as character designer and chief animation director. Taisei Iwasaki (BELLE) is music director, composing alongside Ryō Konishi (Journal with Witch theme) and Yuki Kanesaka (Dr. Stone).

Anime Expo Screening
The first two episodes will screen at Anime Expo on July 4 at the JW Diamond Hall at 2:45 p.m. PDT. A panel featuring director Mokochan, character designer and chief animation director Shūhei Handa, and other producers will follow the screening.
Background
Bandai Namco Filmworks first announced the project in May 2024. The franchise community mourned a significant loss when Atsuko Tanaka, the longtime voice of Motoko Kusanagi, passed away in August 2024 at the age of 61.
