Kadokawa has begun streaming the second promotional video for the second television anime season of Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs (Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai Desu), based on Yomu Mishima’s light novel series. The video reveals both the opening and ending theme songs for the new season.
Theme Songs
The opening theme is “Jinsei Endroll” (Life’s Ending Credits), performed by Ando — a music unit consisting of Knight X member Shō Takeyaki, voice actor Daisuke Hirose, and music producer ANCHOR. The ending theme is “Ashita wa Ashita no Que Sera Sera” (Tomorrow is Tomorrow’s Que Sera Sera), performed by girl band MEISHOHIKOKAI.
Synopsis
Office worker Leon is reincarnated into a brutal otome game world where women hold supreme power and only handsome men have any standing in society. Armed with his memories from his previous life — including a full playthrough of the game itself — Leon sets out to spark a revolution and reshape this new world, all in pursuit of his one true dream: a quiet, peaceful life in the countryside.

Staff
Kazuya Miura (DRAMAtical Murder, Full Dive, Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!) returns to direct at studio ENGI. Kenta Ihara (Cautious Hero, Full Dive, Mieruko-chan, Saga of Tanya the Evil) is back as series script supervisor, and Masahiko Suzuki returns for character design and chief animation direction. Tetsuya Watanabe joins as the new CG director, while Shin’ichi Komeya takes over from Tomoyuki Ishiyama as compositing director of photography.
Other returning staff include art director Ryōsuke Kawai, color key artist Miho Hasegawa, editor Yūsuke Ueno, composers Kana Hashiguchi and Show Aratame, sound director Takatoshi Hamano, and sound effects artist Yui Andō.
Premiere & Broadcast
The second season premieres on July 8 on AT-X at 11:30 p.m. JST, and will also stream on ABEMA and d Anime Store at 24:30 JST (effectively July 9 at 12:30 a.m.). It will subsequently air on Tokyo MX and BS NTV. AT-X will also hold a special cast program on July 2 at 10:00 p.m. JST.
The first season premiered in April 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the series and also offers an English dub.
Source Material
Mishima originally published the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2017. Micro Magazine’s GC Novels imprint later released it in print with illustrations by Monda; the series concluded with its 13th volume in March 2024.
A manga adaptation by Jun Shiosato launched on Kadokawa’s Dra Dra Dragon Age website in October 2018, migrating through several platforms before settling in Monthly Dragon Age in January 2022. Seven Seas publishes the manga in English.
The manga relaunched in Monthly Dragon Age in August 2025 under the new title Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai Desu Ryūgaku-hen (Study Abroad Arc), with a new team: artist Tanuki Odoro, composition by Seishirō Matsuri, and production by FTops. The first compiled volume shipped on January 9. Shiosato clarified the staff change was not due to any conflict, but because he chose to “raise the white flag” as the artist for future story developments.
Micro Magazine has also published two volumes of the spinoff novel series Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of That Otome Game Is Tough for Us, which Seven Seas also releases in English. A manga adaptation of the spinoff by Renji Fukuhara runs on Dra Dra Flat♭.
