Sony Music has announced the theme song artists for Reborn as a Space Mercenary (Japanese title: Mezametara Saikyō Sōbi to Uchūsen Mochi Datta no de, Ikkodate Mezashite Yōhei Toshite Jiyū ni Ikitai), the upcoming television anime adaptation of the light novel series by Ryūto with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima.

Theme Songs

Rock band FLOW will perform the opening theme song “Unstoppable,” while metal band ASTERISM will handle the ending theme “My Way.” The anime is set to air on Tokyo MX, Yomiuri TV, and Chukyo TV, with a premiere scheduled for October. Crunchyroll will stream the series internationally.

Staff

The anime is being produced at Studio A-Cat under the direction of Norihiko Nagahama (I’ve Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills, The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army was a Human). Takamitsu Kōno (Absolute Duo, Highspeed Étoile, The Beginning After The End) is handling series scripts, while Masami Sueoka (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army was a Human, The Beginning After The End) is designing the characters. Jin Aketagawa serves as sound director, and Kenta Higashiohji is composing the music.

Story

When Satou Takahiro is swept away from his ordinary life into the world of his favorite video game, a universe of space battles, interstellar colonies, and danger in the vastness of outer space awaits. Living as the mercenary “Hiro” with a tricked-out spaceship and companions by his side, he faces space pirates, daring rescues, and no shortage of trouble — all while living his new life to the fullest.

Source Material

Ryūto began serializing the original story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in February 2019, and the series remains ongoing. Kadokawa published the first print volume in July 2019, and released the 17th volume on May 9. Seven Seas Entertainment, which holds the license for both the light novels and manga adaptation, published the 15th novel volume on May 26.

The manga adaptation by Shinichi Matsui launched on ComicWalker (now KadoComi) in November 2019. Kadokawa published the manga’s 11th compiled volume on March 23, and Seven Seas released the 10th volume on March 31.
