Details have been announced for 「ボボボーボ・ボーボボ展 DIVE INTO THE BO-BOBO WORLD」, an exhibition event based on the anime series by Yoshio Sawai. The event promises to put visitors through a full “Hajike-rist Training Program.”
Exhibition Zones
Visitors will be welcomed at the entrance by a “Nose Gate” (鼻ゲート) — a gate adorned with nose hair, perfectly in keeping with the series’ surreal spirit. From there, the exhibition is divided into several zones:
- INTRO — Invitation to the Hajike-rist Training Program: An introductory area setting the tone for the whole experience.
- ZONE 1 — Fierce Battle! Battle Field: An immersive zone recreating the battles and world of the series. Highlights include a Bo-bobo figure with an afro that actually opens and closes, and a display of Don Patch doing “Bulgogi.”
- ZONE 2: Details remain under wraps — only that music will never stop playing in this area.
- ZONE 3 — Legendary Records: A selection of reproduction original artwork (複製原画) from the source manga will be on display.

When the TV series first aired, we were fumbling in the dark trying to animate the surreal gags of this hugely popular comedy manga. Back then we had little access to social media, so the show ended without us really knowing how viewers felt — it didn’t seem to become a hit anime. I consoled myself thinking the staff had all done their best… Time passed… and then THIS happened!! Nearly 20 years later! I want to tell my past self, hunched over storyboards in frustration: “The kids who watched back then grew up still loving it — they’re holding events, making tons of merch… they’re totally Hajike-ing!!”

Congratulations on the Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo exhibition! The fact that the series is generating this much excitement after so much time has passed really drives home just how deeply loved it is by the fans who laughed along with Bo-bobo back in the day. I want to tell my childhood self — the one rolling on the floor laughing at the turtle rap — “You’re still cracking up at Bobobo even as an adult.”
