JR Tokai has announced a special collaboration with the beloved anime series Detective Conan (名探偵コナン) as part of its “Oshi Tabi (推し旅)” campaign. The limited-time event will run aboard the Tokaido Shinkansen starting August 10, 2026.
About Detective Conan
Detective Conan is a mystery manga by Gosho Aoyama, serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since 1994. The story follows high school detective Shinichi Kudo, who is shrunk into a child’s body after being forced to swallow a mysterious poison by a shadowy organization. Adopting the alias Edogawa Conan, he works to uncover the truth about the organization while solving countless cases alongside his friends. The TV anime series launched in 1996, and the latest theatrical film, Detective Conan: The Angel of the Highway (名探偵コナン ハイウェイの堕天使), has been in cinemas since April 10, 2026.
Mystery-Solving on the Shinkansen
Passengers aboard the Tokaido Shinkansen can access the campaign website from inside the train to take on mystery quizzes supervised by Detective Conan Zemi (名探偵コナンゼミ), an educational service designed to build critical thinking skills in elementary school students. Each session randomly presents five questions, each accompanied by a hint, making it enjoyable for both children and adults. Players can attempt the quiz multiple times (though repeat questions may appear). There are 50 questions in total, including exclusive campaign-only problems.
A boarding certificate (乗車証明) can be obtained once per person per day, regardless of how many times all five questions are answered correctly.
Exclusive Merchandise
Players who answer all five questions correctly will be eligible to redeem an exclusive original acrylic keychain at Sanseido Shoten Nagoya Honten, located on the 8th floor of Takashimaya Gate Tower Mall, directly connected to JR Nagoya Station. Designs differ between the first and second halves of the campaign, with three designs available per period — one chosen at random. Redemption requires presenting the boarding certificate, is limited to once per person per day, and is available only while supplies last. Boarding certificates cannot be stockpiled for multiple redemptions.
AR Photo Frames and More
Participants can also receive AR photo frames featuring original illustrations — all 10 designs are available within a single journey. Frames are usable until 23:59 the following day after acquisition (or until 23:59 on the final day of the campaign).
Additionally, a lottery will invite 25 pairs of winners to a “Railroad Job Experience Tour!” at the JR Tokai General Training Center in Mishima. Participants will learn about and experience various railway-related jobs, and will also get to take a commemorative photo with Conan on the day of the event. The lottery can be entered once per day.
