The official website for the Thunder 3 television anime, based on the manga by Yuki Ikeda, has released the series’ main promotional video and main visual, along with a new wave of cast announcements made on Thursday.
The main PV features the anime’s opening theme song “Thunderbolt,” performed by singer-songwriter Yuri.
Newly Announced Cast (Rebellion)
- Taito Ban as Teiichi Segami, a college-level karate expert
- Yūki Hirose as Shizuka Tashiro, Segami’s former high school classmate now aligned with the Rebellion
- Ryōko Maekawa as Mio Kisaragi, the reason Segami sought out the Rebellion
- Haruki Ishiya as Kyōji Sumeragi, a key figure within the Rebellion
- Yūki Onodera as Yutaka Yamamoto, a Rebellion member
- Yūki Shin as Sameyama, a Rebellion member

Story
Three ordinary schoolboys stumble upon a DVD that supposedly opens a gateway to a parallel universe. When they look away, Pyontarō’s little sister Futaba slips through and is kidnapped by aliens who have overrun that alternate Earth. The boys soon discover that their cartoonish bodies grant them superhuman abilities in the hyper-realistic parallel world, and they set out on a mission to bring Futaba home.
Staff
The anime is directed by Hiroyuki Seshita (Knights of Sidonia, Ajin), with Hiroshi Seko — known for his work on Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man — overseeing the series scripts. The ending theme “Shururerira” is performed by -otoha-.
Broadcast and Streaming
Thunder 3 premiered on Fuji TV’s +Ultra programming block on July 8 at 24:45 JST (effectively July 9 at 12:45 a.m. JST). The anime is also streaming exclusively worldwide on Netflix from July 8.
Manga Background
Ikeda launched the Thunder 3 manga in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine in May 2022. The series entered its climax arc in January 2025, then went on hiatus in March due to the author’s health. It returned in February and concluded on June 5. Kodansha will release the ninth compiled volume on July 16, while Kodansha USA shipped the eighth English-language volume on February 10.
