The live-action film adaptation of Blue Lock has released a new promotional clip, featuring “twilight” — a brand-new track by Fukase that has been confirmed as an insert song for the movie.
The footage centers on the dormitory entrance test awaiting protagonist Isagi Yoichi at the elite striker-training facility known as Blue Lock (the “Blue Prison”). The test takes the form of an “Onigokko” (tag) game with high stakes: any player hit by the ball becomes “Oni” (it), and whoever is still “Oni” when the timer runs out is immediately disqualified from ever representing Japan’s national team. The clip offers a gripping glimpse at just how ruthless the selection process is.
Blue Lock follows ordinary high schooler Isagi as he is thrown into a facility housing 299 rival strikers, all competing to knock each other out and claim the title of the world’s greatest striker.
Based on the manga by Kaneshiro Muneyuki and Nomura Yusuke (Kodansha), the live-action film is set to open in Japanese theaters on August 7.
