Summer 2026 anime Thunder 3 (サンダー３) aired its third episode, Episode #03 “ALIENS,” on July 22, 2026, via Fuji TV’s “+Ultra” block and worldwide exclusively on Netflix — and viewers were immediately floored by the sheer invincibility of Futaba, little sister of protagonist Pyontaro.
About Thunder 3
Thunder 3 is based on the manga by Ikeda Yuki, serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine since 2022. The series concluded in June 2026, just before the anime premiere, but had already earned a nomination for the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho 2022 award thanks to its buzz-worthy story. The main trio — Tezuka Pyontaro, Azuma Tsubame, and Ochanomizu Hiroshi — are collectively known as “Small 3.”
Futaba: Drilled, Incinerated, Unstoppable
Captured by aliens who can’t get their scanner to work, Futaba is subjected to a cranial drill — but no matter how high the aliens crank the power, they can’t leave so much as a scratch. “We cannot deal any damage whatsoever,” they concede. Futaba then simply stands up and punches straight through the spaceship wall to make her own exit, sending the aliens scrambling in panic.
Fans online erupted: “Futaba is way too strong lol,” “She’s so cute but an absolute threat to aliens,” and “She punched clean through the floor too!” Wandering the ship calling out “Nii-tan~” and “Mama, where are you~?” in a voice on the verge of tears, Futaba is labeled a “dangerous specimen” by her captors.
When the aliens open fire and reduce her to a charred husk, viewers gasped — only to cheer when she immediately revived, wailing and walking on as if nothing happened. “So glad she’s alive,” “Her crying sounds so real,” fans wrote.
Small 3 Strategize — and Get a Lead
Meanwhile, Pyontaro, Tsubame, and Hiroshi visit their homeroom teacher Doc’s apartment alongside the Multiverse version of Pyontaro to figure out how to rescue Futaba. Even after Hiroshi explains they took a missile hit without a scratch, the Multiverse crew just laughs it off — until Multiverse Hiroshi suggests: “Why not just ask one of the aliens around here?” It turns out the aliens carry translation terminals on their heads and actually understand Japanese.
A Tense Standoff — and Small 3’s Power Revealed
Out in the city, Pyontaro tries talking to an alien near the station and gets ignored. Then a nearby incident escalates: an alien child steals ice cream from a human child, drops it, and throws a tantrum. When the human father tries to leave peacefully, the alien parent gets physical. Police arrive — but point their guns at the humans.
One officer, hand trembling on his weapon, breaks down: “What is this… What are we doing? Who are we pointing guns at?!” The scene prompted Pyontaro’s voice actress Suzushiro Sayumi to post, “A scene that really makes you think…,” while Aoi Azusa (voice of Pyontaro’s dog Pusuke) wrote, “Please stop this!!”
Small 3 steps in. The aliens scan their energy readings and declare them “dangerous organisms.” Before they can fire, Hiroshi signals Pyontaro: “Up! Flick them away with your finger!” One finger snap later, the aliens are sent flying across the street. When they return and counter-attack, the smoke clears to reveal Small 3 completely unharmed. Pyontaro then grabs an alien by the leg and Giant Swings it into the sky. Fans lost it: “It flew so far,” “It’s dead lol,” “Go Thunder 3!!”
“You’re Our Last Heroes!”
After the dust settles, the conflicted officer tells Small 3 that the country has fallen — the Self-Defense Forces have been suppressed and everyone has had to comply. Multiverse Pyontaro turns to the trio and declares: “You guys are our last heroes!”
Post-broadcast, Aoi Azusa wrote: “This week was so much fun!! Those three were so cool — the whole world is going to fall for them. And Futaba is sooo cute… please don’t cry… This world is rough!” Akiyama Eri (Hiroshi) posted: “We finally encountered the enemy…! I hope you got to see the power of Small 3.” Ending theme singer otoha, who performs “Shururerira,” noted: “The story is really starting to move now,” echoing the excitement fans felt about the episode’s momentum.
Suzushiro Sayumi teased: “Next time… it’s finally happening…!! Don’t miss it!!”
