The TV anime second season Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, based on the manga by Akihito Tsukushi, is set for a limited theatrical run at cinemas across Japan. The screenings are split into two parts and serve as a lead-up to the first entry in the new theatrical film series.
Screening Schedule
The first half (episodes 1–6) will screen from September 18 to October 1, 2026, while the second half (episodes 7–12) runs from September 25 to October 8, 2026. Both windows are strictly limited engagements, building anticipation for the theatrical series’ first film, Made in Abyss: Mesameru Shinpi, which opens on October 23, 2026.
Special Stage Greeting
A stage greeting event will be held on September 19, 2026 following the 15:30 screening at T·JOY Kyoto in Kyoto Prefecture. Three cast members are scheduled to appear:

- Shiori Izawa (voice of Nanachi)

Theatrical Film: Made in Abyss: Mesameru Shinpi
Continuing directly from the second TV season, the film follows Riko and her companions as they invite Faputa to join them on a descent into the Seventh Layer of the Abyss. The film opens October 23, 2026. On the same date, a soundtrack CD featuring 20 tracks — including the theme song “Chain of the Abyss” — will also go on sale.
