The “Bungou Stray Dogs ART & DESIGN EXHIBITION”, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Bungou Stray Dogs TV anime, opened at Animate Ikebukuro Main Store on July 31, 2026. A photo report from the Tokyo venue has now been released.

About Bungou Stray Dogs

Bungou Stray Dogs is a manga illustrated by Harukawa 35 based on the original story by Kafka Asagiri. The TV anime first aired in 2016, and as of July 2026, the spinoff series Bungou Stray Dogs WAN! 2 is currently broadcasting.

Exhibition Highlights

Visitors are greeted by the main visual featuring characters bearing the 【BSD10th】 emblem, alongside special messages from Nobuhiro Arai (character designer and chief animation director) and Takeshi Kusano (responsible for the title logo, packaging, and subtitle design throughout the series).

Jacket Illustration Panels and Rare Original Data

A total of 26 large panels display every Blu-ray & DVD jacket illustration from the series’ history. Behind each panel, visitors can find episode synopses, memorable lines, and — making their public debut — original jacket illustration data that has never been shown before.

Visual Experience Area

The “Visual Experience Area” features a wall of combined monitors projecting dynamic, character-focused footage that delivers a truly immersive spectacle.

Music and Artwork Area

The next section spotlights music and art, with CD discs and jacket artwork from every opening theme, ending theme, soundtrack, and character song lining both sides of the corridor. Reproduction cels (複製原画) from animation studio Bones, including work by Nobuhiro Arai, are also on display.

Art Boards and the “Ability” Monument

Further in, framed art boards depict the Yokohama cityscape, the Armed Detective Agency office, and the Port Mafia headquarters. A central monument themed around the series’ “Abilities (異能力)” is adorned with effects mimicking the typographic bands seen when characters activate their powers, alongside glittering scene cuts from the anime.

The subtitle typography — which weaves together titles and passages from literary works connected to the series — was designed by Kusano Design Office, with projections covering every episode of the series.

LIFE-SIZE STATUE Area

The centerpiece of the “LIFE-SIZE STATUE” area is a trio of statues depicting Atsushi Nakajima, Osamu Dazai, and Ryunosuke Akutagawa, brought to three dimensions from the Blu-ray & DVD Vol. 12 jacket illustration. Fans can walk around to view details invisible in the original illustration — the folds of their clothing and the nuance of their expressions bring the characters to life. (Statues produced by Royce Entertainment Co., Ltd., supervised by Bones.)

HISTORICAL VISUALS Area

The “HISTORICAL VISUALS” area presents newly drawn artwork of 10 characters created exclusively for this exhibition, under the visual theme “A Toast to the Stray Dogs” — a celebration of the creative power built up over the series’ decade-long run.

Special Animate Illustrations

The final section gathers a selection of illustrations drawn for various Animate events and campaigns over the past 10 years, including rare pieces no longer available in stores — a treat for dedicated fans.

Merchandise Area

After the exhibition, the merchandise corner offers items using newly drawn artwork, including acrylic stands, clear files, stickers, and record-style coasters featuring CD jacket designs. Purchases of ¥5,500 (tax included) or more in a single transaction at the merchandise area come with a special shopper bag.
