โลโก้ Crunchyroll บนหน้าจอในรถยนต์ผ่านแพลตฟอร์ม Appning by FORVIA

Crunchyroll has announced a new collaboration with Appning by FORVIA, an automotive apps distribution platform, to make its streaming service available inside select vehicles. The rollout covers North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, India, and Australia.

Launching on BMW and MINI, Expanding to 40+ Brands

The partnership will debut on BMW and MINI vehicles before expanding across the broader BMW Group lineup and eventually reaching more than 40 automotive brands.

Safety Guidelines While Driving

FORVIA notes that for other video streaming apps on its platform — such as YouTube — video playback is automatically disabled while the vehicle is in motion, but becomes fully accessible once parked. The platform’s technical guidelines prohibit any distracting content, including video and pop-ups, from being displayed on front-seat screens while the car is moving.

Crunchyroll Subscription Tiers

Crunchyroll raised prices across all of its U.S. subscription tiers last February. Here is a breakdown of the current plans:

  • Fan Tier — US$9.99/month (up from US$7.99): No ads; new simulcast episodes available as they premiere.
  • Mega Fan Tier — US$13.99/month (up from US$11.99): All Fan Tier benefits, plus offline viewing, up to four simultaneous streams, a 10% discount on select Crunchyroll Store products, and free shipping on orders over US$50.
  • Ultimate Fan Tier — US$17.99/month (up from US$15.99): All Fan Tier benefits, plus offline viewing, up to six simultaneous streams, a 15% discount on select products, free shipping on all Crunchyroll Store orders, an annual member swag bag, and access to exclusive member-only merchandise.

Crunchyroll also discontinued its free ad-supported streaming tier last December.

About Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll operates as an independently run joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment (U.S.) and Aniplex (Japan), both of which are subsidiaries of Tokyo-based Sony Group. Funimation Global Group completed its acquisition of Crunchyroll from AT&T on August 9, 2021, for US$1.175 billion in cash, following the initial announcement in December 2020. Funimation’s home video catalog is now released under the Crunchyroll brand.
