BLUE GIANT, the beloved jazz manga by Shinichi Ishizuka, is heading back to its hometown of Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture this September with two large-scale events celebrating the series.
BLUE GIANT × PARCO2 10th Anniversary JAZZ & ART EXPERIENCE
Running from 4 to 23 September at Sendai PARCO2, this collaboration event creates an immersive space where visitors can experience the world of BLUE GIANT — from the roots of protagonist Miyamoto Dai to the story’s present day. Throughout the venue, the BLUE GIANT ART EXHIBITION will feature displays of reproduction original artwork and specially designed photo spots.
Revival Screening with Talk Show
On 12 September, TOHO Cinemas Sendai inside PARCO2 will host a revival screening of the BLUE GIANT anime film, accompanied by a talk show featuring manga creator Shinichi Ishizuka and celebrated tap dancer Kazunori Kumagai. Tickets go on sale at midnight on 5 September.
Sign Event with Ishizuka and NUMBER 8
Also on 12 September, Ishizuka and NUMBER 8 — who has been involved with BLUE GIANT since its inception — will hold a sign event. Entry tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis (limited to 50 people) to customers who spend ¥15,000 or more (tax included) at the BLUE GIANT LIMITED SHOP, a pop-up store opening temporarily at Haremachi Court near Sendai Station.
The Homecoming of BLUE GIANT
Beginning 11 September, a second event titled The Homecoming of BLUE GIANT will be centred at Sendai Eki-mae E-Beans. The exhibition will showcase newly drawn illustrations by Ishizuka alongside large-scale panels of iconic scenes from the series. Collaborative merchandise with local Miyagi businesses will also be on sale, and the venue will be decorated inside and out.
Additional highlights include collaborations with local restaurants and a stamp rally spanning six locations across Sendai, including both E-Beans and PARCO2.

BLUE GIANT follows Miyamoto Dai, a high school student from Sendai who dreams of becoming the world’s greatest jazz player. The latest instalment, BLUE GIANT MOMENTUM, is currently serialised in Big Comic (Shogakukan) and is set in New York City.
