The fifth annual ONE PIECE DAY’26, a large-scale event celebrating the anniversary of the ONE PIECE manga’s serialization, was held at Makuhari Messe on August 22–23, 2026. The event brought together every facet of the ONE PIECE franchise — manga, anime, live-action drama, music, games, and merchandise — under one roof.
WORLD TOP 100 Takes Center Stage
This year’s event was closely tied to the 2nd ONE PIECE Character World Popularity Vote “WORLD TOP 100” (WT100), held to commemorate the series surpassing 600 million copies in worldwide circulation. Stages, performances, and exhibitions throughout the venue all revolved around the WT100.
At the WELCOME ZONE, visitors were greeted by life-size statues of the Straw Hat crew alongside a special gate featuring all 1,567 characters from the series displayed on monitors. Beyond the gate, giant nobori (vertical banners) for all TOP 100 characters were lined up in a spectacular display.
The nobori rankings were updated in real time: the initial order reflected pre-event standings, and after the final results were announced on stage, the banners were rearranged accordingly. In a dramatic live moment, the TOP 30 characters’ banners were dropped simultaneously on stage, generating huge excitement from the crowd.
Special Exhibition: “WORLD TOP 100 — 100 Characters Chosen by Everyone”
The special exhibition “WORLD TOP 100 -みんなが選んだ100人展-“ displayed reproduction manuscript pages showing the first appearance of each TOP 100 character, arranged in story order from the East Blue arc onward. A free-write message board where fans could leave notes for their favorite characters drew an outpouring of passionate responses.
Oshi Cards and TOY & HOBBY WORLD
The popular “Oshi Card” (推しカード) activity returned, giving fans a creative outlet to express their love for their favorite characters. The TOY & HOBBY WORLD zone showcased products from Bandai, BANDAI SPIRITS, MegaHouse, and the ONE PIECE BASE SHOP.
Character Greetings and Anime Highlights
The TV anime ONE PIECE corner was a major draw, with a character greeting featuring the Straw Hat crew costumes and Chopper from CHOPPER’s making their ONE PIECE DAY’26 debut — much to the delight of fans in attendance. A handshake event with voice artists Kitadani Hiroshi and Otsuki Maki was also held.
The anime zone further featured an original animation art gallery from the Elbaf arc and a dedicated booth for ONE PIECE HEROINES original merchandise.
Games and Other Activities
Visitors got an early hands-on with the upcoming home console game ONE PIECE 海のごちそうレストラン, ahead of its October 22 release. Other highlights included the immersive punching game ONE PIECE Dawn Strike, BANPRESTO crane games, ONE PIECE Bounty Rush, the ONE PIECE Card Game, gashapon machines, and a character photo snap corner — all of which drew enthusiastic crowds throughout the event.
