The anime film Bungou Stray Dogs DEAD APPLE is set for a nationwide revival screening at 30 theatres across Japan, beginning December 25.
About the Film
Originally released in 2018, DEAD APPLE is the theatrical adaptation of the Bungou Stray Dogs anime series, produced with the full cooperation of original author Asagiri Kafka. The film features a completely original story set six years after the events of the “Dragon Head Conflict,” in which more than 500 ability users around the world mysteriously take their own lives. The Ministry of Home Affairs dubs the incident the “Ability User Serial Suicide Case,” and the Armed Detective Agency moves to apprehend Shibusawa Tatsuhiko, a man suspected of involvement — only for Dazai Osamu to vanish at the same time.
Collaboration with Shayokan
A collaboration with Shayokan (斜陽館), the Dazai Osamu Memorial Museum in Aomori Prefecture, has also been announced. Planned activities include:
- A special exhibition inside the museum’s rice storehouse (米蔵)
- A stamp rally visiting tourist spots in Goshogawara City and locations connected to Dazai Osamu
- Newly recorded voice content by Miyano Mamoru, the voice actor behind Dazai Osamu in the anime
All collaboration events are scheduled to begin in January 2027, with further details to be announced at a later date.
ABEMA Streaming
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 1 and Season 2 will also be streamed back-to-back on ABEMA. Season 1 begins on September 6 at 18:00, followed by Season 2 on September 7 at 18:00.
