The manga 鬱展開大好き主人公VS優しい世界 転生先が平和すぎるので、至高の絶望を求めて旅に出ます — roughly, “A Protagonist Who Loves Dark Twists VS a Kind World: My Reincarnation Destination Is Too Peaceful, So I Set Out in Search of the Ultimate Despair” — launched its first volume on September 8 via Overlap‘s Gard Comics imprint.
The series is a manga adaptation of a light novel by Ishibushi Ishi, with artwork handled by Majima Makoto.
Synopsis
The story’s protagonist is a man utterly obsessed with “uu-tenkai” — dark narrative turns in which characters are pushed to their absolute physical and mental limits. When he is granted the chance to reincarnate in another world, he tells the goddess he wants to be sent somewhere bleak and brutal. His exact words — that he wants to “help people who work hard yet suffer terrible fates and receive no reward” — are taken completely at face value.
Mistaking him for a person of extraordinary compassion and virtue, the goddess reincarnates him as Prince Laia (ライア) of an impossibly peaceful kingdom — a land where villains and conflict are virtually nonexistent.
Bored to tears by his idyllic new life, the prince with decidedly bad taste sets off to explore this gentle world, determined to find the dark despair he so desperately craves lurking somewhere within it.
