The first large-scale exhibition dedicated to the TV anime Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-, titled TVアニメ『Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活』展 -10th Anniversary-, officially opened on September 12, 2026 at Shibuya BEAM Gallery in Tokyo. A media preview was held on September 11, followed by a press conference featuring lead voice actors Kobayashi Yusuke (Natsuki Subaru) and Takahashi Rie (Emilia).
Exhibition Highlights
Visitors are greeted at the entrance by an Opening Theater — a floor-to-ceiling giant monitor tracing Subaru’s decade-long journey. The 1st Season zone features character introductions alongside official setting materials, as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes columns written by staff and cast members.
A fog-filled corner commemorates the battle against the White Whale, complete with an enormous glowing eye that shifts to red. Nearby, the “Diligent Photo Spot” recreates the Sloth Archbishop Petelgeuse Romanée-Conti’s “Unseen Hand” ability, letting visitors pose as if wielding the power themselves. A three-dimensional figure of Petelgeuse hugging his knees is also on display.
2nd Season Zone and the “Choose Me” Memorial Theater
The 2nd Season corridor features a large wall illustration of Echidna alongside profiles of the six Witches of Sin. At the end of the zone, the “‘Choose Me’ Memorial Theater” recreates the burning Forbidden Library and projects the fan-voted No. 1 scene — Episode 49, “Choose Me” — in which Subaru and Beatrice make their fateful promise.
The next area houses the “Great Rabbit of the Snowfield” photo spot, depicting a horde of the fearsome Great Rabbit — one of the Three Great Mabeasts. Bloodied human fingers are placed near the central rabbit’s mouth and feet, and a sign reading “Please do not touch” is posted nearby, drawing both laughs and chills from visitors.
3rd Season, 4th Season, and the Audition Booth
The 3rd Season zone showcases a large-scale diorama of the Water Gate City Pristella, surrounded by monitors playing battle footage. A dedicated “Super Animation Dissection” corner displays over 100 of the approximately 3,000 key animation frames from the Garfiel vs. Kurgan fight in Episode 63, alongside a line-test video.
The currently airing 4th Season also has its own section, covering the story up to Episode 82, “Natsuki Subaru,” through scene cuts and original key animation. The organizers confirmed that additional exhibits will be added after the 4th Season finale airs.
One of the exhibition’s most unique features is a booth where visitors can listen to the actual audition recordings of Kobayashi and Takahashi. Executive Producer Tanaka Sho‘s comments explaining why each actor was chosen are displayed alongside the audio. Opposite the booth, visitors can view a script annotated with notes by Director Shinohara Masahiro, as well as illustrations and staff messages from character designer and chief animation director Sagawa Haruka.
Press Conference: “A Zero State”
At the press conference, Takahashi reflected on the audition recordings from roughly 11 years ago, noting how young both her own voice and Kobayashi’s sounded. She said Kobayashi’s audition voice was unmistakably Subaru, yet noticeably different from his current performance. Kobayashi explained that for the actual recording sessions he added a rougher, raspier quality to his voice compared to the audition, and laughed shyly that the audition recording represented a “zero” state — before he had truly come to understand the character.
When asked whether the recording atmosphere changed across seasons, Kobayashi recalled that the 1st Season sessions were the most grueling, but also the period that forged the strongest bonds among the cast. He noted that the 3rd Season recordings were particularly energized, as characters like Beatrice and Roswaal had finally become true allies. Takahashi agreed, adding that she felt a strong sense of unity and reliability from the entire cast.
Advice for Visitors
Takahashi strongly urged fans to watch the anime through Episode 82 before attending, while Kobayashi warned that the exhibits touch on core story spoilers. He also encouraged visitors to take their time at each display and pay attention to the floor decorations. In a lighter moment, Kobayashi pointed out that among the three-dimensional figures in the venue, only Subaru, Emilia, and — notably — Petelgeuse received the treatment, drawing laughter from the room. Takahashi added that even for those who haven’t caught up, the exhibition should serve as strong motivation to keep watching.
