The second part of the theatrical anime Saishuu Gakushou Hibike! Euphonium opened in Japanese cinemas on September 11. To mark the occasion, director Ogawa Taichi released a special commemorative illustration, while a video compilation of newly animated cuts was made available on YouTube.
Director’s Commemorative Illustration
Ogawa’s illustration depicts Kumiko and Reina standing back-to-back, hands intertwined. The director accompanied the image with a comment reflecting on the journey of the series: “I savored the miracle that this work has managed to carry on this far, and it has now come to fruition right here.” Additional commemorative illustrations and comments from other staff members are scheduled to be released on subsequent days.
New-Cut Special Video
The new-cut video opens with Kumiko’s line, “It all started with Reina, didn’t it,” before showcasing scenes including a musical performance at the school cultural festival and a graduation ceremony — all featuring footage that is either newly added or refined from the television version.
About the Film
Saishuu Gakushou Hibike! Euphonium is a theatrical anime adaptation that takes the content of the 2024 TV anime Hibike! Euphonium 3, polishes it, and adds new cuts to create a definitive conclusion to the series. Both parts together have been nominated in the feature-length film category at the 28th Bucheon International Animation Festival (富川国際アニメーション映画祭).
