Music was composed by Yaffle, who has previously produced for Fujii Kaze and Kenshi Yonezu, among others. The theme song “Sasakure” (Split) is performed by adieu.

The film was planned and produced by NOTHING NEW, with French studio Miyu Productions (Ghost Cat Anzu, A New Dawn) co-producing after joining the project in June 2025.

Screenings and Festival Run

The film opens in Japan on September 25. It previously screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, and competed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (June 21–27). Additional festival screenings include:

  • Ottawa International Film Festival (OIAF) — September 23–27

Distribution

International sales are handled by CHARADES, which has licensed the film to Hooray Films (Taiwan), Shaw Organisation (Singapore), Intercontinental Film Distributors (Hong Kong), and Sahamongkol Film (Thailand).

Crowdfunding

The production team launched a crowdfunding campaign on Motion Gallery in November 2025 to cover production and advertising costs. The campaign closed on March 2, surpassing its 8 million yen (approx. US$50,365) goal and raising a total of 9,604,510 yen (approx. US$60,467).

NOTHING NEW was founded in 2022 with the mission of creating “a world where talent is not crushed.”
