The anime Mazenchu has been officially announced as the first original anime to air within Kantele’s long-running morning program Yo~i Don!, with a premiere date set for Wednesday, October 7, 2026. New episodes will air every Wednesday as part of the show.
Story: A School Full of Food Characters
Mazenchu is a coming-of-age story set at a school attended by a colorful cast of anthropomorphic food characters — including sushi rice, avocado, and lean tuna. The series explores friendship, rivalry, and bittersweet romance through the characters’ everyday lives, carrying the central theme that “mixing with someone different from yourself can be a wonderful thing.”
Voice Cast
- Sume — a sushi-rice girl who dreams of becoming delicious sushi, voiced by Obara Reoa
- Abo — a determined, competitive avocado girl, voiced by Hayashi Sakura
- Akami — a lean-tuna boy who appears cool but burns with passion inside, voiced by Nashiki Uki
- Shinko — a gentle, soft-hearted shinko boy, voiced by Kikuchi Kokoro

Series creator Ebi shared a message expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity, describing Yo~i Don! as a beloved program that has been a familiar part of daily life. Ebi commented:
