Fans of Chiikawa (ちいかわ) passing through — or heading to — Nagoya now have a special reason to linger at the airport. The Chiikawa POP UP STORE has opened for the first time at Chubu Centrair International Airport, set up in the Event Plaza on the 4th floor of Terminal 1. The limited-time shop runs from September 8 through October 5, 2026, with hours from 10:00 to 18:00 daily.
About Chiikawa
Chiikawa is a manga created by illustrator Nagano, originally serialised on X (formerly Twitter) beginning in 2020. The series follows the endearing, bittersweet, and occasionally tough daily lives of characters including Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi, winning over readers of all ages. Its popularity earned the series the Japan Character Award Grand Prix and a place in the award’s Hall of Fame.
The anime adaptation, which began airing in 2022, has surpassed 500 million total views on YouTube via catch-up streaming. The franchise’s first feature film, Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island — adapting the fan-favourite “Siren Arc” — is currently in theatres and had already grossed 13.9 billion yen as of September 6.
