Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN is an OVA adapted from the manga by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the character designer and animation director of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. The six-episode OVA centers on the “Char & Sayla Arc” and the “Loum Arc,” and was initially screened at cinemas before being re-edited for television broadcast as Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN: Before the Global War — The Red Comet. The story follows Casval Rem Deikun — who suddenly loses his father — on his journey to becoming the Zeon ace pilot known as Char Aznable, spanning the period just before Episode 1 of the original anime through the early stages of the One Year War.
