An anime adaptation of the “Self-Proclaimed Library Committee Member of the Archduke’s Academy” arc of Ascendance of a Bookworm: I’ll Do Anything to Become a Librarian! has been officially announced. WIT STUDIO, which handled the previous arc, will return to produce the new series.
Background
Based on the fantasy novel series by Miya Kazuki, published by TO Books, Ascendance of a Bookworm follows a book-obsessed young woman who is reincarnated as a girl named Myne in a world without books — and sets out to create them herself. The series has surpassed 14 million copies in cumulative sales. The TV anime first aired in 2019, and the most recent installment, Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke, ran for two consecutive cours beginning in April 2026, with its finale airing on October 3. The final scene of that arc showed Rozemyne departing for the Archduke’s Academy with the words “では、行って参ります” (“I’ll be off, then”), setting the stage perfectly for the new series.
Introduction
“If there are no books, I’ll just make some!” — The passion of one girl is about to move the world.
In Ehrenfest, a land ruled by magic-wielding nobles, Myne struggles to bring books into existence — but the immense magical power hidden within her invites conspiracy. To protect her family and friends in the lower city, she chooses to live as Rozemyne, adopted daughter of the archduke, even at the cost of her family and her very name. In a noble society where common sense does not apply, Rozemyne’s battle begins — armed with her love of books and her devotion to those she holds dear.
