Finale Visual ของภาพยนตร์ Seishun Buta Yarō wa Dear Friend no Yume o Minai

The staff behind the upcoming anime film Seishun Buta Yarō wa Dear Friend no Yume o Minai (Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend) streamed the film’s first four minutes and unveiled a “finale visual” on Sunday. The film is positioned as the conclusion of the entire Rascal Does Not Dream (Aobuta) franchise, sharing its title with the 15th and final volume of Hajime Kamoshida‘s original light novel series.

Staff

Sōichi Masui returns to direct at CloverWorks, with Masahiro Yokotani back as series composition writer and Satomi Tamura reprising her role as character designer. The band fox capture plan once again handles the score, and Aniplex is distributing the film.

Music

Tōko Kirishima performs the in-film song “Turn the World Upside Down” as well as the theme song “Suihei-sen wa Boku no Furukizu finale” (The Horizon Is My Old Wound: Finale).

Release Details and First-Week Bonus

The film opens in Japanese theaters on October 16. An advance screening was held at the Shinjuku Wald 9 theater in Tokyo on Sunday.

Audiences who attend during the film’s first week of release will receive a bonus new text story written by Kamoshida, titled Seishun Buta Yarō wa Tea Garden no Yume o Miru (Rascal Does Dream of a Tea Garden). The short story follows Sakuta, Mai, and Shoko after a shopping trip, with illustrations by Keeji Mizoguchi.

Franchise History

The first TV anime, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, premiered in Japan in October 2018 and ran for 13 episodes, adapting the story through the fifth novel volume. The follow-up film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, opened in Japan in June 2019, covering volumes six and seven. Crunchyroll began streaming the film in June 2025 with both subtitles and an English dub.

The film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out opened in Japan in June 2023, selling 118,108 tickets and earning 175,648,924 yen (approximately US$1.28 million) in its first three days to rank #4 on its opening weekend. Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid followed in December 2023, also debuting at #4 with 119,000 tickets sold and 164,594,554 yen (approximately US$1.11 million) earned in its first three days.

The TV anime Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, adapting the “University Student Arc” of the novels, began airing in July 2025. Crunchyroll is streaming the series simulcast alongside an English dub.

The original novel series has surpassed 3 million copies in circulation. Yen Press publishes the novels in English under its Yen On imprint, as well as Tsugumi Nanamiya’s manga adaptation. Yen On released the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend novel volume on January 6.
