An anime adaptation of the Dengeki Bunko novel 「こちら、終末停滞委員会。」 (Kochira, Shuumatsu Teitai Iinkai.) by author Aien Kien has been officially announced and is currently in development. The news was first revealed at the online event “Dengeki Bunko Aki no Matsuri Online 2026”, held on October 3rd. A limited-time archive of the event is available to stream on ABEMA.
Story Overview
The series is set in a world quietly on the brink of destruction, threatened by a mysterious occult-like phenomenon known as “Shuumatsu” (the End) — an entity whose true nature and even its numbers remain completely unknown, and which cannot be eradicated. In the shadows of this crumbling world, a group of young boys and girls take up the fight — not to destroy the End, but simply to stall it.
Announcement PV and Celebratory Art
Alongside the announcement, an official anime announcement PV was released. Illustrator Ogi Pote, who handles the artwork for the novel series, also posted a celebratory illustration on their official X (formerly Twitter) account to mark the occasion.

Thank you as always for your support — this is Aien Kien. Getting “Kochimats” (the fan nickname for the series) adapted into an anime was my number-one dream. I’m so glad we were finally able to make it happen. This is all thanks to the readers who love Kochimats, everyone on the team, and my editor Sato. Thank you so much!! The dream… has come true!!

Looking back, it was light novels — and Dengeki Bunko — that gave the title of “illustrator” to someone who was just an ordinary anime-loving kid. Kochimats and its characters pulled me back to the label with an irresistible gravitational force, and then launched me all the way into the world of anime, which is where it all began for me. The content of each volume is dense and relentlessly fast-paced — I’ve given everything I have as an illustrator with every single book, and it’s still all I can do to keep up. This will be my first anime project as well. Fellow anime and light novel kids — let’s witness the end of this story together.
