The TV anime Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! — based on Muchimaro‘s romantic comedy manga serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine — officially premiered on Thursday, October 3, 2026 at 24:30 JST. Episode 1 featured two story segments: “Osugaki ni mo Ana wa Aru n da yo na…” and “Kaichō wa Ume-kun ni Morawaremashita.”
Story and Characters
Set at the private Fujinari Gakuen, the series follows first-year high school student Mizunoe Ume, who is summoned to the staff room by homeroom teacher Hiratsuka Toshimi. While Ume’s Japanese scores are praised, his science grades are so poor they threaten his promotion to the next year. Hiratsuka — cigarette dangling from her lips throughout the conversation, much to the amusement of viewers online — proposes he join the student council to boost his conduct record. The real reason, it turns out, is that the council simply has a vacancy to fill.
Arriving at the student council room, Ume is greeted by the friendly second-year Terui Arisu. Soon after, a petite student bursts in and immediately gets physically familiar with Ume, leading to an accidental peek and a mock shakedown for ¥5,000. Terui then introduces the girl as Odori Tan (“Tan-chan”), the council’s PR officer — and drops a bombshell: despite her delicate, girlish appearance, Tan is biologically male. The reveal sent both Ume and viewers into a brief, delighted panic online.
Uncensored Version and Broadcast Details
The episode also features the student council president, Kotofuki Hisako, introduced in a memorably absurd scene. In addition to the standard broadcast cut, an uncensored version is available exclusively on AT-X and select streaming platforms.
The opening theme is “Kaze no Naka wa Hashiru kki ya nai!” by Sangatsu no Phantasia, while the ending theme is “Pi” performed by Nanawo Akari. Both the OP and ED videos carry version subtitles suggesting alternate cuts will be released in the future.
