The long-awaited TV anime PSYREN has officially premiered, launching on October 5, 2026 at 23:00 on TOKYO MX and other stations. Ahead of the broadcast, a creditless opening video was released, and five manga artists sent in celebratory illustrations to mark the occasion.
About PSYREN
PSYREN is based on the manga by Toshiaki Iwashiro, which ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 2008 to 2010. The supernatural action-thriller has maintained a passionate fanbase for over 15 years since its conclusion, earning three nominations in AnimeJapan’s “Manga We Want to See Animated” fan poll before finally receiving an anime adaptation. The series is directed by Katsumi Ono, with animation production handled by Satellite.
Story
The story follows first-year high school student Ageha Yoshina, who one day picks up a mysterious red telephone card left in a public phone booth. Days later, his childhood friend and classmate Sakurako Amamiya — who possessed an identical card — vanishes without a trace. Determined to find her, Ageha reaches out to the shadowy “Secret Society PSYREN,” rumored to be behind a nationwide string of mysterious disappearances. And so begins a deadly game with no easy way out.
Creditless OP & Theme Songs
The newly released creditless opening video features the high-energy theme “WARNING!!” performed by CLAN QUEEN (Princidom Records). The sequence depicts both the present-day world and a ruined future, showcasing Ageha and his allies fighting desperately to reclaim their tomorrow. Sharp-eyed viewers will also spot characters who have yet to be officially introduced. The ending theme is “ICARUS” by Who-ya Extended (SACRA MUSIC).
