The Stone Fes. 2026 event announced on Saturday that production has been greenlit on Dr. Stone Terraforming, a sequel anime series to the television adaptation of Riichirou Inagaki and Boichi’s Dr. Stone manga. The new series will adapt the “Terraforming” story arc — set after the events of the main story — beginning from the 27th volume of the manga.
The Dr. Stone Anime Timeline
The original Dr. Stone television anime premiered in Japan in July 2019. Crunchyroll streamed the season simulcast, Funimation provided an English dub, and the series debuted on Toonami in August 2019.
The second season, Dr. Stone: Stone Wars, followed in January 2021, with Crunchyroll streaming worldwide outside Asia and Funimation handling the English dub. It made its Toonami debut in May 2021. A standalone one-hour special, Dr. Stone: Ryusui, aired in July 2022.
The third season, Dr. Stone: New World, split into two cours — the first premiering in April 2023 and the second in October 2023 — before concluding with its 22nd episode in December 2023. Crunchyroll streamed both cours alongside an English dub, and Toonami began airing the season in June 2023.
The fourth and final season of the original series, Dr. Stone: Science Future, launched its first cours in January 2025. The second cours ran from July 10 to September 25, 2025, with the season’s third part concluding on June 25.
