Story Overview

Based on the manga by Oima Yoshitoki (serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine), the series follows Fushi, an immortal being cast down to Earth as a “sphere,” who gradually learns what it means to be human through encounters and partings with the people he meets.

Season 1 (2021)

The sphere transforms into stone, moss, and a white wolf before encountering a lone boy in an abandoned village. Taking the boy’s form, Fushi sets out on a journey and meets March, Gugu, and Tonari on Jananda Island. Each farewell shapes Fushi’s growing understanding of human emotion.

Season 2 (2022–2023)

A girl named Hisame, who claims to be the reincarnation of Hayase, appears before Fushi. As the enemy known as the Nokker resurfaces, Fushi joins a protective organization and travels to the Kingdom of Uralis and the city of Renril.

Season 3 — “Modern Arc” (2025–2026)

Centuries after the war with the Nokkers, Fushi awakens in a peaceful modern world. He meets Yuki, a middle school student, and Mizuha, a girl descended from Hayase’s bloodline, as the Nokkers return and the true purpose of the Observer comes to light.

Music

Seasons 1 and 2 open with “PINK BLOOD” by Utada Hikaru; Season 3 opens with “Fumetsu no Anata e” by Perfume. All three ending themes — “Mediator,” “Roots,” and “Recollections” — were composed by Hamauzu Masashi.
