Shiawase Kanako no Koroshiya Seikatsu, the popular social-media-born 4-koma manga by Wakabayashi Toshiya, has been officially announced for a TV anime adaptation set to premiere in April 2027. The series will be produced under the TOHO animation label. A teaser PV and teaser visual were released alongside the announcement.
About the Series
The story follows Nishino Kanako, a young office worker who quits her exploitative “black company” job only to accidentally land a position at a hitman agency with surprisingly excellent working conditions. The manga humorously depicts her new life as a rookie assassin. It currently spans nine compiled volumes. In February 2025, a live-action drama adaptation aired on DMM TV, with actress Non playing Kanako.
Teaser PV and Visual
The teaser PV opens with a mock job-placement agency commercial featuring a real-life Asian small-clawed otter, before cutting to scenes of Kanako making the fateful decision to switch careers. The teaser visual depicts a bewildered Kanako surrounded by guns pointed at her from all directions during what appears to be a job interview.

Suzuki Ryota (as Sakurai): “I’ve always loved Wakabayashi-sensei’s manga Tsurezure Children, so I’m beyond happy to be part of one of his works. Playing the cool-headed Sakurai in a comedy was genuinely challenging — I had to hold it together and stay in character while everyone around me was going wild. (laughs) There’s also a unique thrill in getting to say words you’d never normally say (‘I’ll kill you’) over and over. Please look forward to the broadcast!”
Suwabe Junichi (as the Company President): “The art style is cute and pop, but the title is pretty dangerous. (laughs) The President I’m playing is Kanako’s boss — what kind of person he is and what kind of organization it is, I’ll leave for you to discover! The animals from the original manga turned out even better than I imagined in the anime. It’s a comedy, so please sit back and enjoy!”
