The upcoming immersive live show Animersive Live「竜とそばかすの姫 – PROJECT LAYRA –」 has revealed its cast for LAYRA, the new virtual diva at the heart of the story. Five singers from across J-pop, musical theatre, and anime music will each bring their own interpretation of the character to the stage: miwa, Kon Natsumi, Suzuki Konomi, Miki Maria, and ASCA.
Concept and Story
The show runs from October 10 to November 15, 2026 at MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives Box1000 in Tokyo. Billed as a “next-generation experiential entertainment” format, it blends anime with immersive live performance.
Set five years after the events of the original film, the spin-off follows Hirochang — who once produced Belle in the virtual world ＜U＞ — as she returns to discover and produce a brand-new diva named LAYRA. During the show, Hirochang’s music festival “Utopia” materialises inside the real theatre space, where LAYRA the virtual diva and her real-world Origin, Kotomi, share the same stage.
Design and Music
LAYRA’s character design is handled by Mika Pikazo. Music director TeddyLoid, who is composing all of LAYRA’s songs, wrote the opening number 「わたしは LAYRA」 by imagining what the world of ＜U＞ would look like five years on. A video of all five singers performing the track has already been released. LAYRA has also officially joined Sony Music’s management and label division Echoes as its first virtual diva.
Voice Cast
Ikuta Lilas reprises her role as Hirochang ＜As＞ from the original film, while Kurosawa Tomoyo joins as Puck, a wandering autonomous AI in the world of ＜U＞.

- miwa: Thrilled to take part in this world-first format. As a huge fan of director Mamoru Hosoda’s films, playing a diva who moves between virtual and real worlds is a true honour — and her first time acting and singing as a character on stage.
- Kon Natsumi: Couldn’t quite picture the virtual-real fusion at first, but watching it take shape has been exciting. She hopes fans of the beloved original will enjoy this new chapter too.
- Suzuki Konomi: Hosoda’s films are always her answer when asked about favourite movies. Being able to step into that world as a character feels like more than she deserves, and she’s been rehearsing with great anticipation.
- Miki Maria: Although it’s her stage debut, she’s committed to delivering her own version of LAYRA and invites everyone to come and experience the new scenery together.
- ASCA: Saw the original film three times in cinemas. Feeling a special connection to this story set five years later, she looks forward to meeting audiences in the world of ＜U＞ from October.
