Story
Shioriko Shinokawa is the quiet, bookish proprietor of the Biblia Antiquarian Bookshop, gifted with a remarkable talent for logical deduction that lets her unravel mysteries hidden within old volumes. Her unlikely partner, the lanky Daisuke Gōra, struggles to read books but serves as her steadfast assistant and protector. Together, they help clients discover truths that are never quite what anyone expected.
About the Series
Mikami launched the novel series in 2011 with Shioriko-san to Kimyō na Kyakujin-tachi, illustrated by Hagu Koshijima. The series has sold over 6.4 million copies and received nominations for the Japan Mystery Writers Association Award (Long Story category) in both 2012 and 2014. The 11th novel shipped in March 2024. The series is divided into two arcs, with the first concluding at volume seven.
A live-action television drama aired in 2013, and three separate manga adaptations have been published: one by Nakano (serialized in Altima Ace and later Asuka, ending in 2014 at six volumes); one by Ryō Kōda in Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon (three volumes as of 2014); and a third by Haruki Niwa, titled Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō – Tobirako to Utsuro na Yume, which ran on Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up website from February 2024 to October 2025, with its third volume shipping in November 2025.
Kadokawa announced both a live-action film and an anime film in 2017. The live-action film opened in November 2018, but the anime film project has not surfaced since its initial announcement.
