The production team behind Black Clover has officially confirmed that Tanemura Ayataka will direct 2nd Season of the TV anime. Tanemura previously helmed the series’ 1st Season as well as the 2023 theatrical film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.

About Black Clover

Based on the manga by Tabata Yūki, Black Clover is set in a world where magic is everything. The story follows Asta, a boy born without any magical ability, and his rival Yuno, as both strive to reach the pinnacle of the magical world and become the Wizard King. The TV anime originally aired from 2017 to 2021, followed by a feature film adaptation in 2023.

2nd Season Premieres This October

Black Clover 2nd Season is scheduled to begin broadcasting on TV Tokyo and its affiliated networks in October. With Tanemura Ayataka returning to the director’s chair, fans can expect a consistent creative vision carried over from the earlier installments.

Anime Expo 2026 Appearances

Anime Expo 2026 takes place in Los Angeles, California from July 2 to 5, 2026. On July 4 (local time), the Black Clover team will participate in two special events:

  • A talk panel featuring voice actor Kajiwara Gakuto (the voice of Asta) and director Tanemura Ayataka, where the latest information on the series will be revealed.
  • A premiere screening of the first episode of 2nd Season.

1st Season Recap Video Now on YouTube

Ahead of the new season’s broadcast, a 10-minute recap video covering the events of 1st Season has been made available on YouTube. The video was previously shown exclusively at the Black Clover Exhibition held in Tokyo and Osaka, giving fans who missed the events a chance to catch up before 2nd Season begins.
