To celebrate the theatrical release of the live-action film Blue Lock, the movie’s cast has taken over both the front and back covers of Weekly Shonen Magazine‘s special combined issue 36–37 — the very magazine that serialises the original manga. The film’s official YouTube channel has also released a series of special crossover talk videos pairing live-action actors with their anime voice-actor counterparts.
About Blue Lock
Blue Lock follows a group of high-school forwards thrown into a ruthless survival programme called “Blue Lock” (the Blue Prison), designed to forge the world’s greatest striker and lead Japan to World Cup glory. The TV anime’s first season launched in 2022, followed by a theatrical anime film and a second TV anime season in 2024. The original manga has now surpassed 60 million copies in worldwide circulation.
The Live-Action Film
The live-action adaptation stars Takahashi Fumiya as protagonist Isagi Yoichi, directed by Taki Yusuke with a screenplay by Kamata Tetsuo. Production is handled by CREDEUS, the studio behind the Kingdom series, Kokuho, and SAKAMOTO DAYS. The film opens in Japan and more than 25 countries worldwide on 7 August 2026.
The theme song is 「モンストロ」(Monstro) performed by Ado, released via Capitol Records / Universal Music.
Double-Sided Magazine Cover
The special combined issue 36–37 of Weekly Shonen Magazine, on sale 5 August 2026, is billed as a “Super Special Commemorative Issue” for the film’s release. The front cover features the Team Z cast members:

Special Actor × Voice Actor Talk Videos on YouTube
The film’s official YouTube channel has already published an “Isagi Yoichi Talk” featuring live-action actor Takahashi Fumiya and anime voice actor Ura Saki. The two analyse the character from their respective perspectives — Takahashi describing Isagi as “like a soft-bodied creature,” while Ura likens him to “a chrysalis” — and share behind-the-scenes stories from the film set and recording booth.
A “Bachira Meguru Talk” with live-action actor Sakurai Kaito and anime voice actor Kaito Tsubasa is also coming soon, covering the challenges of portraying Bachira’s dual nature of cuteness and madness.
