โลโก้ BluPetal พร้อมประกาศลิขสิทธิ์มังงะ Last Heaven และ The Black World is Dyed in White Chalk ในงาน Anime Expo

English manga publisher BluPetal made several major announcements at its panel during Anime Expo on Thursday, revealing two new manga licenses, a marketing partnership with Japanese publisher Kaiohsha, and plans for a new subscription platform.

Two New Manga Licenses

BluPetal announced it has licensed Last Heaven by Masashi Kumamoto and The Black World is Dyed in White Chalk (Kuro no Sekai wa Hakuboku ni Somaru) by Raika Suzumi. Both titles are slated for release in print and digitally in early 2027.

Last Heaven

A darkly romantic Boys’ Love thriller from Kaiohsha’s & Emo imprint, released in Japan in May 2025. The story follows Akira, the son and heir of a yakuza family who lives under the protection of two former assassins once employed by his late father. When a threat from within puts him in danger, the charged dynamic between Akira and his guardians grows far more complicated.

The Black World is Dyed in White Chalk

A tender Girls’ Love story from the orSiS imprint about trauma, creativity, and connection. After a facial scar leaves Mishiro shunned and withdrawn, her only solace is painting. Everything changes when she meets Kuroe, an upperclassman carrying her own quiet sorrows, and the two gradually find their way toward each other through the art of blackboard murals. Author Suzumi launched the manga on Line Manga and ebook Japan on February 11 of this year, and publisher Bunkasha will release the first compiled volume on July 16.

Gush Comics English Marketing Partnership

BluPetal also announced a new marketing services agreement with Japanese publisher Kaiohsha, under which BluPetal will lead English-language marketing and fan engagement for Kaiohsha’s boys’ love manga imprint Gush Comics. This includes launching dedicated social media channels and a newsletter for the imprint. Kumamoto’s Last Heaven will serve as Kaiohsha’s first English-language Gush Comics release.

Upcoming Subscription Platform

BluPetal additionally revealed plans to launch a subscription platform at BluPetal.net, targeting fans of BL, GL/yuri, shoujo, and josei genres. No launch date has been announced, but the site is already accepting early signups.

BluPetal launched last year and is staffed by veterans from companies including Crunchyroll, Seven Seas, Viz, Kodansha, Anime Trending, and others. The publisher focuses on works aimed at women, spanning BL, shōjo, yuri, jōsei, TL, and gay comics.
