BS12 TwellV announced that its late-night anime block “Anime 26” will broadcast two classic titles in July 2026: “Captain Tsubasa (Elementary School Arc)” and “Shin Samurai-den YAIBA”.
Captain Tsubasa (Elementary School Arc) – A Soccer Legend Beyond Borders
“Captain Tsubasa (Elementary School Arc)” will begin airing on July 6, 2026, every Monday at 26:00, meaning 2:00 a.m. late Monday night.
The story follows Tsubasa Oozora, an elementary school soccer prodigy who transfers to Nankatsu Elementary School and faces talented rivals from across Japan, including Genzo Wakabayashi and Kojiro Hyuga. His journey shows how he grows into a true soccer player.
With its bright story, distinctive characters, and spectacular signature moves that many fans wanted to imitate, the original manga became a global phenomenon. The so-called “Captain Tsubasa boom” spread worldwide, and the series is often cited as an inspiration for many professional soccer players in Japan and abroad.
Shin Samurai-den YAIBA – A Jungle-Raised Samurai Returns to Battle
“Shin Samurai-den YAIBA” will begin airing on July 3, 2026, every Friday at 26:00, meaning 2:00 a.m. late Friday night.
The anime is based on “YAIBA”, a manga by Gosho Aoyama, creator of Detective Conan and Magic Kaito. Serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1988 to 1993, the story follows Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai boy raised in the jungle. When he returns to Japan, his search for strength begins again in a new action-packed setting.
The first TV anime season aired in 2025. At AnimeJapan 2026 on March 28, 2026, a special stage event announced production of Season 2: Kaguya Arc and revealed the first official teaser visual.
