The large-scale CHIIKAWA DAYS 台北特展 exhibition has officially opened in Taipei, running from July 4 through September 27, 2026 at Huashan 1914 Creative Park, East 2 Hall. The event follows a well-received run in Hong Kong and brings the beloved world of Chiikawa to Taiwan with a host of immersive displays and exclusive merchandise.
About Chiikawa
Chiikawa (ちいかわ) is a manga by illustrator Nagano, originally published on X (formerly Twitter) beginning in 2020. The series follows the daily lives of endearing characters — Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi — through stories that are by turns cheerful, bittersweet, and surprisingly intense. Its cross-generational appeal has earned it the Japan Character Award Grand Prix Hall of Fame distinction. The anime adaptation, airing since 2022, has surpassed 400 million views on YouTube worldwide. The franchise’s first feature film, Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island — adapting the fan-favourite “Siren Arc” — is set to open on July 24, 2026.
Taiwan-Exclusive Night Market Zone
The centrepiece of the Taipei exhibition is a zone available nowhere else: the Taiwan Night Market (台湾夜市) area. Visitors walk through a dazzling night-market gate and past elaborate light boxes to find Chiikawa characters dressed as iconic Taiwanese street foods — including Usagi reimagined as a tapioca pearl drink. The zone features more than 100 three-dimensional displays and giant balloons recreating memorable scenes from the manga.
Limited Merchandise
The venue stocks a wide range of exclusive goods spanning collectibles, stationery, everyday accessories, and made-to-order items. Standout pieces include:
- A 50 cm Night Market plush toy (made-to-order)
- A Chiikawa Mahjong Set (made-to-order)
Both are available only through the exhibition and serve as unique souvenirs of the event.
