The beloved Code Geass franchise is set to expand with a brand-new anime titled Code Geass: Hoshi Oi no Aspal. The production has released its main visual, key staff lineup, main character designs, and a set of preview scene cuts. Alongside these reveals, voice actors Shibata Aiban and Yamamura Hibiki have been confirmed as the leads.
Story
The series is set in the Roman Empire, where citizens suffer under the tyrannical rule of Emperor Phocas and the relentless wars waged against neighboring nations. The protagonist is Aspal, a young enslaved boy with no memories of his past, living in the imperial city of Neapolis. His life is upended when he encounters Zoe, a mysterious woman who exists only as a living head. Their fateful meeting sets the story in motion.

I honestly couldn’t believe it at first — even after being told I’d been cast, it didn’t feel real for a while. It wasn’t until I held the script in my hands and saw my name on it that reality slowly started to sink in. When I first encountered Aspal, I found myself deeply moved by the turbulent life he has lived and the journey that still awaits him. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking and agonizing over how to portray him. With every performance, I pour in a wish — that no matter what form it takes, he finds his own happiness in the end.
Yamamura Hibiki (as Zoe)
The moment I saw Zoe’s character illustration, I was struck by how divine and beautiful she looked — just that single image pulled me completely into the world of the story. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been chosen to voice such a captivating character, and at the same time I feel a thrilling sense of responsibility to carry her soul faithfully in my performance.
Nomura Kazuya (Director)
I remember being genuinely surprised when I received this offer. While I’ve keenly felt the challenge of building an entirely new world from scratch, I’ve been earnestly grappling with the big theme of “What is happiness?” through the protagonist Aspal. I hope audiences will stay with us to the very end to see what he finds at the conclusion of his tumultuous journey.

We’ve ventured into unseen places, sought out things we didn’t yet know, and kept searching for something important whose very existence we couldn’t be sure of. Release & Events
Code Geass: Hoshi Oi no Aspal is scheduled to launch in 2027. Ahead of the main release, advance screening events are planned for January 2027, touring five major cities across Japan. Further details will be announced via the official website and social media channels at a later date.
