An official countdown project for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (葬送のフリーレン) Season 3 — subtitled the “Golden Land Arc” (黄金郷編) — has launched in anticipation of the anime’s October 2027 broadcast. The project will progressively release illustrations drawn by animators and staff members involved in the production.

The first entry in the series comes from Keisuke Kojima (小嶋慶祐), one of the anime’s character designers. His illustration features the three main characters — Frieren, Fern, and Stark — with Frieren holding a spellbook inscribed with “the magic to make Season 3 air within one year,” a charming nod to fans eagerly awaiting the new season.
Madhouse Releases 3rd Anniversary Visual
September also marked the third anniversary of the anime’s premiere, and production studio Madhouse celebrated the occasion with a special commemorative visual. The artwork depicts Frieren, Fern, and Stark gathered around a dining table, with Frieren holding the famously “absurdly huge hamburger steak” that appeared in Season 1, Episode 12, “The Real Hero” (本物の勇者).
Adding an extra layer of emotion, the window behind the trio reveals the silhouettes of Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen — Frieren’s companions from her past journey — bringing together both old and new friends in a single, heartfelt image.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada (山田鐘人) and Tsukasa Abe (アベツカサ). Season 3, the “Golden Land Arc,” is scheduled to air in October 2027.
