The official X/Twitter account for the original television anime Inherit the Winds (風をつぐもの / Kaze wo Tsugumono) announced on Wednesday that Takeo Ōtsuka has joined the cast as Yamanaka Keisuke.
Story
Set in Bakumatsu-era Kyoto, the series follows an amnesiac soldier who is rescued by the celebrated Shinsengumi member Okita Sōji. Okita gives the man the name “Tachikawa Jinsuke,” and Jinsuke’s new life unfolds among the Mibu soldiers.

Premiere & Events
The anime is set to premiere in January 2027 on the “Agaru Anime” programming block across CBC, TBS, and 26 affiliated networks. An early theatrical preview screening is also planned for 2026.
A four-panel manga adaptation drawn by Matsuri Muramatsu will launch in 2026 on Star Seas Company’s Twi4 (read as “Tsuiyon”) account on X.
About the Creator
Yutaka Narui is a playwright and founder of theatrical troupe Caramel Box, known for numerous stage productions centered on the Shinsengumi. While a prior stage play also carried the title Kaze wo Tsugumono, the two differ in how the word “mono” is written — kanji for the play, hiragana for the anime — and the anime is officially classified as an original work.
