Story

Set in 13th-century Yeke Mongol Ulus — the greatest empire the world has ever seen — the story follows Fatima, a Persian woman with unparalleled medical and scientific knowledge, who travels to the Mongol court seeking a stage worthy of her talents. There she comes under the wing of Töregene, the sixth wife of Ögedei, the second Great Khan — a formidable woman with complicated views on the empire’s future. Together, these two women become the pivot around which palace politics, and ultimately the world itself, will turn.
