The TV anime Tokyo Revengers: Santen Sensou-hen (Three Deities War Arc) has officially announced that its opening theme will be “IGNITE” by Japanese boy group JO1. The track serves as the lead single from JO1’s 11th single “AAO”, scheduled for release on November 18.
Notably, JO1 member Kimata Shoya contributed to the song’s lyrics, revealing that he rewrote them numerous times to do justice to the beloved franchise — a process he described as his own form of “revenge.”
JO1 Members Share Their Thoughts
All nine members of JO1 — Kawajiri Ren, Kawanishi Takumi, Kimata Shoya, Kinjo Midori, Kono Junki, Sato Keigo, Shiraiwa Ruki, Mamehara Kazunari, and Yonashiro Sho — shared comments on the occasion.
- Kawajiri Ren said he felt a strong connection between JO1’s spirit and the story’s theme of fighting against fate with grit and determination.
- Kawanishi Takumi admitted he has been a fan of Tokyo Revengers from the start and was overjoyed when he heard the news, having eagerly awaited the series since Season 3 ended.
- Kimata Shoya shared that he participated in writing the lyrics and was genuinely surprised his work was selected, having revised the words over and over to match the weight of the series.
- Kinjo Midori felt that JO1’s music blends seamlessly with the new arc, drawing parallels between the group’s own journey of rising to challenges and the characters in the story.
- Kono Junki said he poured Takemichi’s spirit of getting back up no matter what into the lyrics of “IGNITE,” and is looking forward to hearing it play in the anime.
- Sato Keigo revealed his favorite character is Baji Keisuke, and said he will sing with all his heart for an anime he truly loves.
- Shiraiwa Ruki expressed that the series’ passion, bonds of friendship, and refusal to give up have always inspired him, and he will give everything to deliver a song that stays with listeners.
- Mamehara Kazunari noted that the world of Tokyo Revengers, the song, and JO1 feel like a natural match, and encouraged fans to look out for the word “revenge” hidden in the lyrics.
- Yonashiro Sho expressed pride in carrying on the tradition of Tokyo Revengers opening themes after many great artists before them, pledging to give it their all.

Ahead of the October 2 broadcast premiere, two advance screening events will be held:
