A TV anime adaptation of Kamisama Gakkou no Ochikobore (神さま学校の落ちこぼれ) has been officially announced. The manga, drawn by Akakawa Modomu and based on the original story by Hinata Natsu, will be coming to the small screen, and a first teaser visual has been unveiled alongside the announcement.
Story
Set in a version of modern Japan where being a “god” is a nationally licensed profession, the series follows Hibiya Nagi, a girl with no divine powers whatsoever who somehow ends up enrolling in a school for gods. The story explores her school life filled with friendship, romance, and hidden conspiracies.
The manga has been serialized in Hana to Yume (Hakusensha) since 2021. Its latest volume, Volume 15, went on sale on September 18.

The newly released teaser visual features three key characters: protagonist Nagi; Tsukuyomi (Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto), one of Japan’s highest-ranking gods; and Etou Touta, Nagi’s classmate whose family runs a major shrine.

Kamisama Gakkou no Ochikobore is getting an anime. We’ll be able to hear and see Nagi, Takeru, Tsukuyomi, and Touta move and speak. How wonderful. This is all thanks to everyone involved in the production and to our readers. To my past self who was just starting out when my editor told me, “This is Hana to Yume, and Akakawa-sensei will be drawing the manga” — we’re getting an anime! All I can do now is keep writing the story, and perhaps say a prayer to the gods myself.
