The one-shot manga Majutsushi no Sekigae (魔術師の席替え) made its debut on Shonen Jump+ on September 7. Drawn by Hanada Tomoya and based on an original story by Wada Tatsuma, the chapter is published under Shueisha.
A Classroom Rom-Com in a World of Magic
The story is set in a world where magic has been developed and integrated into everyday life. The male lead, Hirumiya Sora, is a student in the white-magic track and the undisputed mood-maker of his class — always keeping spirits high and the atmosphere lively.
His world shifts when Tsukishiro Yoichi, a girl from the black-magic track, transfers into his class. Because black magic is considered highly dangerous, their classmates greet her with suspicion and keep their distance.
Unwilling to let her be isolated, Hirumiya uses magic to manipulate the classroom seating lottery, securing the desk right next to Tsukishiro. From there, he works to gradually warm his classmates up to her.
When the Warmth Doesn’t Last
His efforts eventually pay off — Tsukishiro wins over the class and becomes genuinely popular. But just as things seem to settle into a comfortable rhythm, an unexpected incident shatters the peaceful mood entirely.
