The TV anime Nigejozu no Wakagimi (The Elusive Samurai) Season 2 is set to premiere this summer, and the production team has released the official main PV alongside several major announcements.
Main PV: Tokiyuki Moves to Reclaim Kamakura
The newly released main PV showcases Tokiyuki and the Nigewakato group finally setting their plan to retake Kamakura into motion — a moment fans of the series have long been anticipating. A portion of the new opening theme can also be heard playing throughout the trailer.
Opening Theme: “鬼事 (Onigoto)” by Nakajima Kento
The Season 2 opening theme has been officially confirmed as “鬼事 (Onigoto),” a new song performed by Nakajima Kento. In a comment accompanying the announcement, Nakajima shared:
“I have loved history since I was a child and often talked about Japanese history with my grandfather. I am truly grateful to be able to sing ‘Onigoto’ while feeling the turbulent era of transition from the Kamakura period to the Northern and Southern Courts through the character of Hojo Tokiyuki. As a history enthusiast, I want to help hype up the opening of Nigejozu no Wakagimi as a young lord of this era. — From the Kimejuzu no Wakagimi”
Season 1 Rerun Also Announced
Alongside the Season 2 premiere, a rerun of Season 1 has been confirmed. It will air on TOKYO MX and BS11 starting Monday, July 13, 2026, every Monday at 24:30.
About the Series
Nigejozu no Wakagimi is based on the manga by Matsui Yusei, published in Shueisha’s Jump Comics. The story follows Hojo Tokiyuki, a survivor of the fall of the Kamakura shogunate, who wields his extraordinary talent for “fleeing” as a weapon to navigate a war-torn era alongside his companions. Yuikawa Asaki voices Tokiyuki.
