The production team behind the summer 2026 anime Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musou: Nidome no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Majutsushi Boukenroku has released the synopsis and preview scene cuts for Episode 1, titled “Raijin-Ou -PROLOGUE-“, ahead of its broadcast premiere on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
About the Series
The anime is based on the manga serialized in Square Enix’s Manga UP!, with an original story by Arata Shiraishi, art by Kentaro, and character designs by Uo Denim. The series has surpassed a cumulative 1.8 million copies in circulation.
The story follows Eftal, a great sage who devoted his life to magical research after reincarnating from the modern world — only to discover in his final years that he was born without any magical aptitude. He dies in despair, never reaching the pinnacle of sorcery. Four hundred years later, Eftal awakens once more in a future where magical civilization has greatly declined, carrying with him the knowledge and skills of his past life. Together with Anastasia, a young slave girl, and Merlin, the headmaster of a prestigious academy and his former disciple, Eftal sets out to dominate the world of magic once again.
Episode 1 Synopsis: “Raijin-Ou -PROLOGUE-“
After defeating the Demon King, Eftal is bestowed the title of “Raijin-Ou” (Thunder Emperor) — one of the Four Emperors, the highest rank among mages. Celebrated by all, he is nonetheless confronted in his twilight years by a cruel truth: he was born with no magical aptitude whatsoever.
Unable to surpass the wall of innate talent no matter how hard he strives, Eftal dies with deep regret, never having reached the summit of sorcery. Yet he opens his eyes once more in a future world where magic has faded. The question of whether effort and obsession can carry him to the very top is about to be answered — Eftal’s unrivaled saga begins now.
