As a tribute to anime director Sato Tatsuo, who passed away on April 24, the official YouTube channel of KING AMUSEMENT CREATIVE will stream seven of his representative works free of charge for one week, from July 7 at 8:00 p.m. JST through July 14. Notably, July 7 also marks the late director’s birthday.

The Seven Works

The lineup highlights Sato’s strength in SF anime alongside an award-winning short and an original series he wrote entirely himself:

• Martian Successor Nadesico (機動戦艦ナデシコ)
• Gekijouban Kidou Senkan Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness (劇場版 機動戦艦ナデシコ -The Prince of Darkness-)
• Stellvia of the Universe (宇宙のステルヴィア)
• Bodacious Space Pirates (モーレツ宇宙海賊)
• Bodacious Space Pirates: Abyss of Hyperspace (モーレツ宇宙海賊 ABYSS OF HYPERSPACE -亜空の深淵-) — theatrical film
• Nekojiru-sou (ねこぢる草) — created in collaboration with Yuasa Masaaki and others; winner of the Animation Division Excellence Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival and both the Best Short Film and Critics’ Award at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal
• Gakuen Senki Muryou (学園戦記ムリョウ) — an original work for which Sato served as both creator and sole scriptwriter on every episode

Sato Tatsuo was widely regarded as one of anime’s foremost directors of science-fiction space adventures, earning fans both in Japan and internationally. The one-week free streaming event offers audiences a rare chance to revisit his body of work before access closes on July 14.
