The TV anime Sayonara Lala has announced three major summer events, led by a collaboration with the Lake Biwa Museum in Shiga Prefecture — the real-world institution that appeared in Episode 6 of the series and assisted in its production.

Lake Biwa Museum Collaboration (Aug. 29 – Oct. 31)

Because Lake Biwa serves as the story’s primary setting, the museum was involved in the anime’s production from an early stage. During the collaboration period running from August 29 to October 31, the museum will display production materials from Episode 6 alongside life-size standees of characters Lisa and Kota.

On the opening day at 2:00 p.m., a special talk event will be held featuring director Takashi Koide, creative producer Natsuki Moriyama, and Lake Biwa Museum curators Takahito Suzuki and Ryoichi Tabata. The panel will reveal behind-the-scenes production stories and, in a fittingly museum-like touch, will examine the ecology of mermaids from a scientific perspective.

Admission is free, with capacity limited to 200 attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration opens via the Shiga Net Uketsuke Service on August 14 at noon.

Sayonara Lala Summer Free Research (Aug. 11 – 31)

The second event, “Sayonara Lala Summer Free Research,” runs from August 11 to 31 and invites fans to submit creative works inspired by the series — including photos, videos, crafts, illustrations, cooking, and research projects.

After the submission period closes, director Koide, voice actress Kana Hishikawa (Lala) and Nana Kawaishi (Ozu Mari), along with other cast and staff, will each select their personal favorites. Winners will receive autographed shikishi boards and postcards. The production team will also release their own “summer research” projects throughout the submission period. Full submission details are available on the official website.

Episodes 1–6 Simulwatch on Niconico (Aug. 16)

On August 16 at 7:00 p.m., episodes 1 through 6 will be streamed back-to-back on Niconico Live. Simultaneously, Hishikawa and Kawaishi will host an X Space session for fans to watch along together in real time — a perfect warm-up before Episode 7 airs later that night at 12:30 a.m.

Blu-ray / DVD BOX Art and Episode 7 Preview

The team also unveiled the package design for the Blu-ray / DVD BOX Vol. 1, due out on September 25. The cover features newly drawn artwork by character designer Shiori Tani. Preview cuts and a web trailer for Episode 7, “Saturday at 10 a.m., at Biwako Terrace,” have also been released.
